Anna Wintour might have a no-photos rule at the Met Gala, but when it comes to videos she's apparently much more relaxed. At least, she is when the videos are shot by Megan Thee Stallion. The rapper made headlines last week for giving fans an inside look at the 2025 Met Gala on her Instagram, causing some to speculate that her actions got her banned from the event. In a new interview, however, Meghan denied that she was banned from the Met Gala, suggesting she had permission to use her phone from the Vogue queen herself.
“No. We're gonna dead these rumors right now, okay? People are like, ‘Oh my God, Megan, you got banned from the Met Gala.’ No, I didn't babe. Like, that's not true,” she told People. “Y'all made that up and ran with it. They love making [stuff up]. Anna loves me, babe. That's why my phone was out.”
While celebs have been known to sneak some bathroom mirror selfies at the Met, taking any photos or video inside the event is a no-no, which is why Megan was hit with ban rumors. She uploaded a video to Instagram after the Gala featuring herself, Doechii, and Angel Reese as they did a Met Gala taste test. In the clip, the three tasted cornbread and caviar, a white truffle lobster roll, and vegan lox.
Elsewhere in the video, Megan acknowledged the no-phones rule, saying, “We're not supposed to have our phones, but we're doing it [anyway],” she aid. “I snuck my phone in.” I guess she got a pass because she's, well, Megna Thee Stallion. It also probably helped that she didn't risk giving fans a sneak peek at the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibit being celebrated, instead focusing on the food and other famous guests.
Megan, who attended the Met Gala wearing custom Michael Kors Collection, wasn't the only celeb to break the no-photos rule this year. Questlove, Halle Bailey, Laura Harrier, and Stella McCartney were among the A-listers also caught snapping pics. And it definitely feels like, sooner or later, the no-phones rule is going to disappear for good.
